Learn a holistic approach to using offsets and understand the importance of certification. You will also get an inside look at an offset project and what goes into it.

Speakers:
Steve McDougal, Executive Vice President, Marketing and Business Development, 3Degrees
Steve leads 3Degrees national direct sales and marketing efforts to large Fortune 500 corporations. Steve was honored at the 10th National Green Power Marketing Conference in 2005, when he accepted the Green Power Beacon Award at the Green Power Leadership Awards Ceremony on behalf of his team’s ground-breaking corporate origination capability in building large-scale demand for green energy.
Steve has sixteen years of experience in sales and sales management from industries including high technology, telecommunications, consumer products, real estate, and utilities. Steve joined the company in 2003 to lead its direct sales efforts, and has been successful in attracting many household name brand companies to become green power customers.
Steve has a BA in Political Science and Economics from Colorado College and an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
Molly Hoyt, Manager of ClimateSmart, PG&E
Molly Hoyt is the manager of the ClimateSmart program,
PG&E’s voluntary carbon offset program. Prior to joining PG&E
approximately 1.5 years ago, Molly was a partner with Origo Inc., a boutique
sustainability consulting firm that helped companies find opportunities with
environmental, social, and financial returns. While at Origo, she worked with
clients such as the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, the
World Resources Institute, and the U.S. Agency for International Development.
Her most recent project was helping lead an eco-friendly, low-cost housing
initiative in Latin America with GE and the Inter-American Development Bank
valued at over $1B. Prior to Origo Molly was Director of Partner Programs with
Vodafone, a U.K.-based wireless telecom company. Molly has an MBA, cum laude,
from the University of Notre Dame.
Jane Valentino, Manager of Green-e, Center for Resource Solutions
Jane Valentino is the manager of Green-e
Climate, a certification program for offsets sold in the voluntary market. She also contributes to policy work relating
to the integration of renewable energy markets and cap and trade policies. Prior to CRS, Ms. Valentino worked at ICF
International, where she performed quantitative and economic analysis of energy
markets to assess and forecast the future of electric power prices, fuel
consumption, and environmental emissions.
She has also held internships at the California Public Utilities
Commission, the U.S. Office of Management and Budget, and at the New York State
Energy Research and Development Authority.
Ms. Valentino earned her B.S.
in Electrical Engineering from Tufts University and her Master of Public Policy
from UC Berkeley's Goldman School of Public Policy.
Peter Freed, Emission Reduction Project Manager, TerraPass
Peter Freed has experience working with biomass energy projects in the United States and abroad. As a member of the TerraPass Carbon Management Services team he has evaluated more than 100 facilities for potential carbon assets and has worked with more than a dozen to register, verify, and commercialize high quality carbon offsets. He has assisted project owners and developers in using carbon offset purchase agreements to help secure financing for their projects. He works with a variety of carbon offset project standards and types and specializes in maximizing carbon revenue for project owners. He holds a degree in Earth Systems from Stanford University.

Calla Rose Ostrander is the Climate Action Coordinator for the City of San Francisco where she manages the City’s greenhouse gas inventories, climate mitigation and adaptation policies and the San Francisco Carbon Fund. She began her work in environmental policy with the Society for Ecological Economics in Seattle WA doing ecosystem service evaluations for the public and private sectors. Since then she as worked as fellow with the Local Economic and Community Development Team at Rocky Mountain Institute, served on the Environmental Board for Town of Carbondale CO and spent two years with the City of Aspen’s Canary Initiative. As interim Project Manager for City of Aspen Canary Initiative she co-authored the Community Climate Action Plan, created and implemented the local green business and event certification program, and developed the first municipal carbon offset program in the nation, Canary Tags. This program was developed in conjunction with, and now serves as the platform for the Colorado Governor’s Energy Office statewide Colorado Carbon Fund. Calla Rose attended the Shining Mountain Waldorf School K-12 and received her BA in International Political Economy from the University of Puget Sound.
